With the success of Invasion: Philippines vs. The World, Golden Boy Promotions announced that there would be a possible Philippines vs. Mexico Rematch 2008 World Boxing Cup and possibly it will going to be held here in the Philippines, so watch out for the development of this event.

The main event dubbed as Invasion: Philippines vs. The World will feature Gerry Penalosa of the Philippines vs. Rattanachai Sor Vorapin of Thailand. Penalosa was the current holder of WBO bantamweight belt while Rattanachai was also a former holder of that belt too. Ratanachai lost to Jhonny Gonzalez and Penalosa gets the title from Gonzales.

The invasion begins at Araneta Coliseum - the home to the classic “Thrilla in Manilla” between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier in 1975, will once again hold a boxing event, the even is called “Invasion: Philippines vs. The World” an eight-bout event which will be held on April 6, 2008 8am Philippine time (broadcast time is 10am)
The main event will feature Gerry Peñalosa(52-6, 35 KO’s) vs. Ratanachai Sor Vorapin (71-9, 47 KO’s) of Thailand, Peñalosa will defend his title for the first time to Ratanachai Sor Vorapin. They already met in 2000 and Peñalosa won that fight via 6th round TKO.
